Thankful:Unchanging Truth for an Uncertain World

Dear Friend,

“All good gifts around us are sent from heav’n above;
Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord for all His love.”

These words are the refrain of my favorite harvest Thanksgiving hymn. It reminds us that while the farmer sows the seeds, we have God to thank, because it is He who “sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, the breezes and the sunshine, and soft, refreshing rain.”

The Pilgrim fathers may not have sung this hymn, but they were absolutely convinced of the truth it contains. Our national Thanksgiving holiday is built upon the firm belief that God the Father carried out His creative works through the activity of God the Son: “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3).

There is little question as to whether we as citizens of the US are both generous and thankful. History, right up to the present, provides overwhelming evidence of these national characteristics. However, not everyone is convinced that the one we are to thank is our heavenly Father. Large sections of the contemporary generation have been hoodwinked into believing lies—that there is no absolute morality, no ultimate truth, and no personal creator God. So they have no framework for living and no one to thank but themselves. It is not difficult to see the correlation between the absence of truth and the instability, turbulence, and confusion that is on display.

Our endeavor is to speak truth into a culture that is like the tossing sea, which cannot rest. We do this by distributing God’s Word proclaimed on Truth For Life through every mainstream channel available to us—popular podcast apps, streaming TV, YouTube, radio, Instagram, Facebook, and, thanks to your support, most recently WhatsApp, among others.

This is a landscape that is ever-changing and requires ongoing investment so that our teaching is easy to find and free to access wherever people are searching. It’s for this reason that we ask you to remember Truth For Life in your year-end giving plans. Your financial support enables us to continue to reach widely into an increasingly lost population with the good news that there is one to thank—the God who gives “all things bright and good: the seedtime and the harvest, our life, our health, our food.”

On behalf of all of us here at Truth For Life, we wish you a blessed Thanksgiving.

With my love in the Lord Jesus,

Alistair
